I wrote a suite of songs based on the last week of Jesus' life, as described in Mark's Gospel. The suite was called 'Mark that Man'. This song reflects on the incident when a woman breaks a jar of perfume over Jesus' feet and rubs them with her hair as an act of worship.
lyrics
You gave me all I had in the world
You taught me all I know
You cleansed my life of all its sin
And made me white as snow
You took me in despite who I am
Although you knew what I'd been through
Now you hear my prayers, you receive my praise
And treat the things I give to you as...
Precious Perfume
Precious Perfume
I stand enthralled in praise
To you I raise
All the joy that I can bring
Precious Perfume
Precious Perfume
You deserve the best of all I have my King
I know there's nothing we can bring
To get us right with God
It's only by the pain you bore
That in your steps I trod
But even as I give to you
The blessings come right back to me
How you answer prayers and receive my praise
Accept the things I give to be as...
