I have always liked to write Christmas songs. This song was written for a Christmas concert in 1992. I am quite pleased with the bell-like sound of the piano part.
lyrics
Sterile stable filled with sterile straw
Standing pretty on a clean swept floor
Silent cattle – who could ask for more?
At Christmas
Oh my Lord it wasn’t like this scene
As a stable it was cold and mean
You came to a world that’s so unclean
At Christmas
Why don’t we tell it like it is
The King of Glory came to this!
Lord of the universe who loves His children so
There are no depths for us you would not stoop to go.
On the Christmas card the glitter gleams
Moonlight shines abroad with silver beams
Like a little piece of heaven it seems
At Christmas
Yet the truth is even greater yet
Sin and dirt and heaven’s Glory met
That’s the meaning we must not forget
At Christmas
Greater love has none than this, my friend
That the Lord for us His Son would send
And the way for us to heaven He mends
At Christmas
Peace on Earth goodwill to men we sing
Praise to Jesus Christ the Infant King
Praise the Lord Above for everything
At Christmas
